What You’ll Earn

• You’ll earn 10,000 Bonvoy points for each approved referral for the Personal Bonvoy Card. 

What Your Friend Earns

• Your friend will earn an extra 5,000 Bonvoy points on the Personal Card by using your referral link.

When you refer a friend to the Personal Bonvoy Card, your friend can earn 75,000 Bonvoy points after they spend $3,000 on their Card in the first 3 months of Card Membership, instead of the standard offer of 65,000 points.

Plus, they can earn an additional 3 points for a total of 5 points on every $1 spent on eligible travel and gas purchases in their first 6 months (up to 15,000 points).

That’s a total welcome bonus of 90,000 Bonvoy points your friend will earn using your referral link.

Important Considerations

You must be an existing Marriott Bonvoy Amex Cardmember of either Card to refer a friend to the Personal or Business Bonvoy Cards.

Even if there’s an increased referral bonus, the maximum number of Bonvoy points you can earn each year is 150,000. This means that under the standard referral offer, you’re able to refer up to 15 friends per year to reach this maximum limit.

The referral bonus offers more points, but the minimum spend requirement is also much higher than the standard higher.

You are not allowed to self-refer to another card. For example, if you are a Bonvoy Personal Cardmember, you cannot refer yourself for a Business Card. Doing so may result in Amex clawing back points, and removal from the referral program.

However, you may refer another member of the same household (more on that in our Conclusion below).

Current or former Cardmembers with this Card are not eligible for the referral offer.

As per Amex Canada’s guidelines, you should only send your link to friends and family who genuinely want to receive it. Ask their permission first.

5. Player 1 uses their referral link to refer Player 2 to a Personal Bonvoy Card.
6. Player 2 gets approved, resulting in Player 1 earning a referral bonus of 10,000 Bonvoy points.
7. Player 1 accumulates a total of 106,000 Bonvoy points!

Player 2

1. Player 2 applies for a Personal Bonvoy Card using Player 1’s referral link before May 6, 2024, with an annual fee of $120.
2. They meet the minimum spend requirement of $3,000 in the first 3 months, earning 75,000 Bonvoy points as a referral bonus offer.
